Appreciate Strong Women in the Corporate World with International Women’s Day - March 8th
Feb 28th, 2017 - According to the World Economic Forum, the gender gap will not be entirely closed until 2186, but every day, society makes a greater stride toward gender parity in the workforce.
March 8th, 2017 is globally recognized as International Women’s Day (IWD), is a day to: “celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women because visibility and awareness help drive positive change for women, and declare bold actions you'll take as an individual or organization to help progress the gender agenda because purposeful action can accelerate gender parity across the world.”
This year on March 8th, #BeBoldForChange in the workforce by:
- Commitment to Leadership Commit to having women leaders in the workforce, and demonstrate that commitment through actions and education. Often, acceptance of leadership trickles down top to bottom.
- Build Awareness of Benefits Make your managers aware of the benefits of having women in the workforce. Women can enhance innovation, reflect gender of the customer base, expand the talent pool, and much more!
- Offer Flexible Work In the current era of globalization, for most jobs, it is not necessary to physically be present at an office to work. Permit your workers to work from home, or offer them flexible work hours in order to promote a work-life balance that allows many women, and specifically mothers, to be an active part of the workforce.
- Training Development, and leadership training for women in the work force is very important. Women must be equipped with the proper tools and education, to aid successfully integrate themselves into often times male driven workforces. Host a conference, sponsor monthly luncheons, invite female employees to weekly training breakfasts, but regardless, do your part to #BeBoldForChange!
